Magic Carpet – An Online International Art Exhibition

In the quiet of Covid lockdown, when borders closed and travel plans dissolved, a group of textile artists decided to fly anyway – on a shared “magic carpet” of stitch, colour, and imagination. Led by UK artist and world explorer Gillian Travis, the Magic Carpet exhibition invited artists to revisit the people, places, and connections that 2020 suddenly placed out of reach, and to share that journey in a virtual gallery.

The online exhibition brought together work by Gillian Travis, Phil Thomas, Stephanie Crawford, Brenda Wood, Susan Sheath, Alison Charlton, Julie McAllister, Isabelle Wessler, and Christine Seager, celebrating international collaboration at a moment when we could not gather in person.
