Lois Parish Evans
New Zealand

Lois Parish Evans is a New Zealand textile artist based in Tauranga. Her work captures the extraordinary in the ordinary, inspired by the bush, coast, and urban landscapes around her.
Drawing from photographs and sketches, Lois distills colour, line, shape, and pattern into layered textile artworks. Using raw-edge appliqué, surface design techniques, and her signature freehand machine stitching — ‘drawing with thread’ — she creates vibrant, textural pieces that reflect both natural forms and abstracted rhythms.
Her art has been exhibited widely in New Zealand and internationally, earning awards and inclusion in private and public collections. She has held five solo exhibitions and contributes regularly to national and international shows.
In 2025, Lois was a guest of honour at the Carrefour Européen Quilt Show, France, presenting an exhibition titled Echoes of the Land, a celebration of landscape and flora.
